Garsfontein Newsletter December 2010

Dear Resident,

It has been an exciting year! We have had a successful world cup, which was relatively crime free and we at GSP have had a good year. We were not 100% crime free but the incidents that we did have were pretty minor.

There are a few things that we need to bring to your attention:

Recycling
The recycling project will come to an end on 8 December 2010 and will resume on the 5th of January 2011. Thank you so much for supporting this initiative. It is encouraging to see all the white bags on the pavement every Wednesday morning. We are investigating other ways of making GSP even “greener”.

Gate Closures
Please take note that the following gates will be closed from Saturday 18th December 2010 until Sunday 2nd January 2011.
·      Arthur Street motor gate
·      Arthur Street pedestrian gate
·      Werd Street pedestrian gate

Santa Clause
At the request of our residents the Golf cart will be available to deliver gifts for the children on Christmas Eve. If you want to make use of this service please send an SMS with the word GIFT followed by your name and address to 083 304 9742 before 20 December 2010. Gifts must be delivered on the 24th of December at 12:00 at the GSP office.

New Traffic Signs
The R403 regulation signs have been erected in our area at the gates of Arthur-, Hesteleen-, and Adela Streets restricting the speed limit to 40km per hour. This sign gives right of way to pedestrians and children. Please adhere to this as we want our area to be safe for everyone including the children who sometimes play in the street.

This sign also allows us to control the movement of non-members in our area. Vehicles with a gross mass exceeding 3 500 kg and/or more than 10 seats for passengers, except local access or delivery may no longer use GSP as a thoroughfare. This also applies to vehicles driving through the area to exit at another point or the same point without breaking their journey.

Communication
The GSP Office will be closed on Thursdays 16 and 30 December 2010. It will be open on the 23 December, and it will re-open on the 6 January, 2011. The office number 083 3049742 will remain available. If an emergency arises during the closure, the GSP emergency cell number, 076 801 9574 must be contacted.

Please visit our website at: www.garsfontein.co.za for more information.

In conclusion, we would like to thank all our members who continued to pay their subscriptions despite the difficulties they faced. We can only make GSP a success because of your continued support.

For those staying at home, enjoy this time with family and friends and for those travelling, please take care on the roads.

We wish all our residents a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
